Installing your Atlas Headrest for the Fern chair is quick and straightforward. This guide walks you through each step to ensure a secure and proper fit.
Fern Headrest Parts
The Atlas Fern Headrest consists of two primary components:
Place the Arm Mechanism so that the top hook rests securely over the top edge of the chair back.
Align the lower hook to fit into the center groove of the lumbar support column. Once hooked into place, adjust the mechanism left or right to ensure it is perfectly centered on the chair back.
2. Lightly Fasten the Arm Mechanism
Locate the 3/16" Allen wrench included in the hardware pack.
Lightly tighten the center screw by hand to hold the arm mechanism in place.
Ensure the clamp is snug against the back of the chair and remains centered.
3. Firmly Tighten the Arm Mechanism
Once centered, use the long end of the Allen wrench to firmly tighten the screw.
The mechanism should now be securely attached to the chair.
4. Assemble the Headrest Frame
Locate the three screws in the hardware pack.
Position the headrest frame onto the arm mechanism.
Tip: Align the arrow on the back of the headrest with the slot on the arm mechanism (arrow should point upward).
5. Secure the Headrest to the Arm Mechanism
Lightly hand-tighten a screw into each of the left and right holes on the headrest.
Once all screws are in place and aligned, use the Allen wrench to fully tighten them into the metal bracket.
6. Attach the Plastic Back Cover
Use the third screw to attach the plastic cover to the center hole on the back of the headrest.
This gives your headrest a polished and clean appearance.
7. Test the Headrest Movement
Gently move the headrest through its full range of motion.
Check for smooth operation and proper resistance.
Adjust the Resistance
To increase resistance (so the headrest stays in place), turn the knobs on either side of the headrest clockwise.
To decrease resistance (for easier repositioning), turn the knobs counterclockwise.
We recommend setting the resistance so it holds firmly during normal use while still allowing easy adjustments.
