How to Fix a Wobbly Headrest
If your headrest feels loose, uneven, or like it shifts unexpectedly during use, don’t worry! This is typically a quick fix. A wobbly headrest is most often caused by slightly loosened installation screws that may have shifted over time or during setup. These screws are located beneath the plastic cover where the headrest frame connects to the arm mechanism.
By tightening these screws, you can restore full stability and ensure your headrest maintains the correct angle and position throughout the day. Follow the steps below to make the necessary adjustments in just a few minutes.
Step-by-Step Guide to Fixing a Wobbly Headrest
Remove the Plastic Cover
Using a 3/16" Allen key, unscrew the center screw that holds the plastic aesthetic cover in place. Once removed, slide the cover back to expose the two underlying hex screws.
- Tighten or Realign the Hex Screws
These screws connect the headrest frame to the arm mechanism and are often the source of wobbling or misalignment. - If the headrest is loose or shifting:
Use the Allen key to firmly tighten both screws. Even slight loosening can cause movement when pressure is applied. - If the headrest is uneven or tilted:
Slightly loosen both screws just enough to allow the frame to move. Adjust the headrest until it appears level, then retighten the screws securely.

- Reattach the Plastic Cover
Once the frame is secured and level, slide the plastic cover back into place and reinstall the center screw using your Allen key.
