Fern Installation Guide
Watch the installation video here.
The Fern headrest consists of two main parts along with a hardware pack: the headrest frame and the arm mechanism. The headrest frame is the part that supports your head, while the arm mechanism attaches directly to the chair. The hardware pack includes three installation screws, a 3/16" Allen key/wrench, and a plastic cover for a clean finish.
Fern Installation Instructions
Follow these detailed steps to install your Atlas Headrest securely and properly onto your Fern chair:
1. Attach the Arm Mechanism:
- Remove the arm assembly from the box and place it at the center of the chair back.
- Adjust the arm assembly left or right to ensure it's perfectly centered.
2. Lightly Fasten the Arm Mechanism:
- Locate the Allen wrench included in the hardware bag attached to these instructions.
- Using your fingers, lightly tighten the screw and steel clamp against the back of the chair to hold the arm assembly in place.
- Ensure that the arm mechanism remains centered on the chair.
3. Firmly Tighten the Arm Mechanism:
- Once it's centered, hold the long end of the Allen wrench and firmly tighten the screw to secure the arm mechanism to the chair.
4. Assemble the Headrest:
- In the hardware bag, find the three screws provided.
- Position the headrest onto the arm mechanism, making sure to align the arrow on the headrest with the opening in the arm mechanism. The arrow should be pointing up.
5. Secure the Headrest to the Arm Mechanism:
- Using your fingers, lightly tighten a screw into each of the left and right holes of the headrest.
- Once all screws are in place, use the long end of the Allen wrench to firmly tighten them to the metal bracket.
6. Attach the Back Cover:
- Use the third screw to attach the plastic cover to the center hole on the back of the headrest for a polished and clean finish.
7. Test the Headrest Movement:
- Before using your Atlas Headrest, move it through its full range of motion to test the resistance.
8. Adjust the Resistance:
- To increase holding resistance (so the headrest stays firmly in place), turn the knobs on the sides of the headrest clockwise.
- To decrease resistance (for easier movement), turn the knobs counterclockwise. We recommend adjusting it to hold firmly in normal use, while still allowing easy repositioning without adjusting the knobs each time.
